Photometry of Nova V 1493 Aql ?
We report on photometric observations of V 1493 Aql during the early decline and highlight some uncommon aspects of the light curve . V 1493 Aql was hotter at maximum light than in the following phases, and was characterized by the presence of a long lasting secondary maximum, that, unlike in other novae, was quite red in color. The mean of three distance estimates yields d ∼ 18.8± 3.6 Kpc. Suc...
متن کاملLooking for Dust and Molecules in Nova V 4743 Sagittarii ⋆
We present 1.2 mm continuum images and spectral line observations of CO(1–0) and SiO(3–2) rotational transitions of the recent nova V4743 Sgr. The nova is detected at 1.2 mm showing a variable millimetre emission. Only upper limits of T ⋆ A = 0.06 K for CO and T ⋆ A = 0.03 K for SiO could be derived. We discuss the results in terms the nature of the millimetre emission favouring dust from a pha...
متن کاملHigh-speed photometry of the Recurrent Nova IM Normae
The recurrent nova IM Nor is found to have an orbital period of 2.462 h, shown by periodic dips in brightness. This is only the second recurrent nova known to have such a short period. We interpret the light curve as largely produced by a reflection effect from the heated face of the secondary star, probably with addition of a partial eclipse of the accretion disc.
متن کاملNova Sagittarii 1994 # 1 ( V 4332 Sagittarii ) : The Discovery and Evolution of an Unusual Luminous Red Variable Star
We report photometry and spectroscopy of the evolution of Nova Sagittarii 1994 #1 (V4332 Sagittarii) during outburst. We compare the photometric and spectral evolution of this outburst to known classes of outbursts – including classical novae and outbursts occurring on symbiotic stars – and find this object does not conform to any known class of outburst. The closest match to the behavior of th...
متن کاملNova Sagittarii 1998 ( V 4633 Sgr ) – A Permanent Superhump System or an Asynchronous Polar ?
We report the results of observations of V4633 Sgr (Nova Sagittarii 1998) during 1998-2000. Two photometric periodicities were present in the light curve during the three years of observations: a stable one at P = 3.014 h, which is probably the orbital period of the underlying binary system, and a second one of lower coherence, approximately 2.5 per cent longer than the former. The latter perio...
